CONFUSED?
Today I am going to write a few more words in case some of my readers are still not fully clear about what Jesus said when He said in Matthew 10:28, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Why did Jesus say that we should fear a God that can kill the soul, and not kill the body only? Do you know why? Most Christians don’t know the answer. They think that once we are dead we are done, finished. Once we are punished and burned in hell to ashes, there is nothing more to it, right? No, you are wrong! Why? Because the holy spirit tells me that while killing our body doesn’t take much work, a simple lethal IV infusion or high voltage electric current of an electric chair will kill our body, killing our soul is a different story. Only God can kill our soul. Our soul is resistant to death! Our souls can last forever when God destroys them in hell. That's why the Bible talks about eternal fire. Let me repeat what I have just said. Our soul is resistant to death!
Depending on what we do in life, whether we are obedient to His commandments or not, that, my dear brothers and sisters, will determine the length of time that we will spend in hell when God kills our soul or spirit! I say again, our soul is resistant to death!
Only God can kill the evil spirit of humans and Satan! It takes forever to kill the evil spirits. In the meantime, we will greatly suffer the pain in hell for a long time for the wrongs that we did in our life! That’s why Jesus said in Matthew 10:28, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
Most of us run or duck for cover when we hear the sounds of guns shooting around us. We are afraid that the bullets might strike and kill us. But Jesus said that we should not fear those that can kill our body only. But we should fear God who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
When has your preacher talked from the pulpit of the church about God who can kill both our body and our soul? Yes, kill our bodies and our souls. God said that we have a body and soul. And what is the meaning or implication of the words body and soul that Jesus referred to in the text?
We all know what the word body means, right?
Our bodies can be seen, can be touched, and can be killed or destroyed. It doesn’t take much time or effort to kill or destroy a living body, seconds or minutes. But the soul or spirit is something entirely different. To kill an evil spirit is done in hell only, according to Jesus. To kill an evil spirit takes forever, hours, days, weeks, months, years, or maybe more, depending on how evil we were when we were alive. That was the reason why Jesus said in Matthew 10:28, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
When we die of old age, that is not the end of us. On Judgement Day our reward or our punishment will be based on two factors, what we do with our bodies, and what we do with our spirit or our souls. And depending on what we do in life, our body and our soul will be rewarded with God’s grace if we do good, or our body and soul will be punished with 1,000 degree Celsius heat for whatever time it takes to destroy our evil spirit, hours, days, weeks, or years. That is the reason why the Bible talks about "eternal fire."
Why that long? Do you think it is easy to kill an evil spirit or soul? It is difficult, very hard, and only God can kill a soul or spirit. If you have a Muslim friend, ask your friend how difficult it is to kill a JINN spirit. You don’t have to believe me. If we have an evil spirit in life, that soul or spirit will be glowing red until we have finished serving our time. Until when? Until we have finished serving our sentence.

Remember, our body is just a tool or servant of our spirit (soul). James 2:26 says that the body without the spirit is dead.
Jesus said in Matthew 10:28, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
I heard someone ask from the back, how about Jesus’ grace?
There is no grace! Read Genesis 6 of your Bible.
“Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every intent of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.” Genesis 6:5-6.
The big flood occurred thousands of years ago when evil is not as bad as today. God destroyed senior citizens, adults, men, women, children, and babies and made them inhale mud water. Do you see any grace then when evil is not as bad as today? None.
