UNGRATEFUL WORLD January 26, 2022 “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). How do you train a child in the way that he should go? The answer is that it is not easy, it is very difficult! Why? Because we live in an ungrateful world. We are ungrateful to our Maker. We are ungrateful to our Creator. We are ungrateful to our God! In addition, we are ungrateful to our parents, we are ungrateful to our brothers and sisters who have helped us, we are ungrateful to our spouses, and we are ungrateful to everyone who has assisted us in the past. We no longer remember their kind and helpful acts. The only thing that we still remember is when they hurt our feelings, that’s about all that we could remember. That, I believe, was the reason why Jesus clearly said in Matthew 5:23-24, "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, "leave your gift there before t...
EVIL SPIRITS Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me."Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, `You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.'" Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. (Matthew 4:8-11).  We live in a world surrounded by evil spirits. We don't know whose spirits they are. They may be standing in front of us. They may be following behind us when we are walking to the grocery store, they may be sitting across our table in a restaurant, or they may be sitting next to us while we are sitting in church listening to the Pastor’s sermon. But they are there, and we cannot always recognize them. They may take the form of a human being, or a stranger whom we do not recognize, or know. They may instantly ...
A LIFE OF SERVICE "And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave", just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve , and to give His life a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:27,28). Jesus could not have said any better about His life , and that life was to serve as ransom or sacrifice for the many. His life was a life of SERVICE for the many , and NOT His death. That’s all that His LIFE was about, to serve others. Not everyone will benefit from the ransom or SACRIFICE that He gave us through His lifetime of SERVICE. Many will benefit, but not all. Brothers and Sisters, Jesus could have died two or three more times, but unless His short LIFE had served many of us so well the way He did while He was alive on earth , His death would be of no value to us! We should appreciate and celebrate His LIFE, instead of His death! His LIFE was the ransom or sacrifice that He gave for us, and not His death! A dead body is never a good ransom for ...
UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE The Bible is a law book. Reading and understanding a legal document, such as the Bible, is not easy. Some Biblical verses are straightforward and easy to interpret and understand, some are like reading a legal business contract. For instance, reading the Apostle Paul’s writings can cause a lot of confusion. Reading what Jesus said can also cause confusion, in some cases. For instance look at this verse, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:27-28). Compare it now with a different verse that Jesus said in Matthew 24:13, "But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” How can we explain this apparent contradiction? How do we reconcile John 10:27-28 with Matthew 24:13? One verse says "once we are saved we are forever saved", regardless, and the other verse says we don't know whether we are saved or n...
