FAITH PLAYS NO ROLE IN OUR SALVATION
Preachers, pastors, ministers, and Bible teachers from every Christian denomination know or should have known that faith plays no role in our salvation. How do I know that?
“And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things that were written in the books.” Revelation 20:12.
Revelation tells us that when the Book of Life is opened, we will be judged not by the amount of faith that we have, but we will be judged by our works. Faith plays no role in our salvation.
"Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'" Matthew 7:21-23. Jesus rejects these men/women of great faith because they too can show no work that Jesus can accept.
And so, from reading Revelation 20:12 and Matthew 7:21-23 we see that faith plays no role in our salvation. We will be judged according to our works, and not our faith! God judged Adam and Eve, Lucifer and millions of his angels, and billions of souls who perished during the big flood because they also could produce no work that God could accept.
Jesus said, "But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Matthew 24:13. Why did Jesus say that only those who endure or work to the end shall be saved? Because salvation must be earned! If faith alone is required for our salvation, millions of demons will occupy heaven and the new earth, because they too believe in God.
Few can endure the work that is required of them to be saved. Every day is a different day. If we can endure today does not mean that we can endure next year. If we can endure next year, doesn't mean that we can endure five years from now. That’s why Jesus said, “Many are called, but few are chosen.” Do you know why? Because these chosen few can endure till the end. They are followers of Jesus who can do the work that is required of them till the end of time. They are followers of Jesus who are faithful to Jesus. How can we endure till the end? The only way we can endure till the end is if we walk hand in hand with Jesus until we reach the finish line. We do what He wants us to do for Him, nothing less. That’s what walking hand in hand with Jesus implies. We cannot walk by ourselves and do what we want to do. Jesus said the road to salvation is narrow and risky. It is not an easy road to travel. As followers of Jesus, we follow the road that Jesus took. If you think you are now cruising in a limousine on the freeway, you are traveling on the wrong road, and in the wrong car, Bro/Sis.
