LEGAL OFFER FROM JESUS
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28
Today I am going to discuss a legal offer that Jesus offered to us, Jews and Gentiles when He was on earth thousands of years ago. If the Jews want to accept His offer, they are very welcome. If the Gentiles want to accept His offer, they are also welcome.
If Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, or even Satan worshippers want to take up His offer, they are very welcome. Jesus’ offer is open to everyone. I encourage all to accept Jesus’ offer because He is true and faithful to His words.
But remember, and don’t forget, that His offer in John 10:27-28 is a legal offer. It is a contract. I want to caution every reader, however, to read His offer carefully in order to avoid confusion or misunderstanding. This offer is a legal offer, and if there are readers who are not familiar with the terms of a contract, or what they imply, I strongly advise them to hire an independent attorney to avoid confusion, misunderstanding, or unexpected disappointment in the future.
For example, this man described in Matthew 7:21 doesn’t understand what he read. He can read, but he doesn’t understand what he read.
Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Matthew 7:21-23. This man thinks that performing miracles, casting out the devils, doing wonders in His name, prophesying in His name, and can say the word, "Lord, Lord" aloud shall make him eligible to enter the Kingdom of God. No, he misunderstood reading the Torah. Or, he misunderstood reading the Scripture. He can read, but he failed to understand the deeper meaning of what he read. “"Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
In Luke 10:25-37 a lawyer asked Jesus, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading [of it]?" So he answered and said, "`You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and `your neighbor as yourself.'"
Jesus asked him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading [of it]?" The lawyer then said, "`You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and `your neighbor as yourself.'" Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."
Brothers and Sisters. Luke 10:25-37 is a summary of Jesus’ will. Luke 10:25-37 is also the will of the Father in heaven. These verses are found in the Bible that we read every day.
Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28.
Do we hear His voice, or do we hear our voice? Do we hear His voice, or do we hear our Pastor's voice? Do we hear His voice, or do we hear Paul's voice? If we hear our voice, our Pastor's voice, or Paul's voice, we are not His sheep. And He is not our Shepherd. Do we follow our voice, do we follow our Pastor's voice, or do we follow Paul's voice? If we follow them, then again we are not His sheep, and He is not our Shepherd. Then who are we? We are the lost sheep and Jesus is not our Shepherd. And so, when reading John 10:27-28, a legal offer, we must clearly understand the terms that we read and their implication.
The promises that Jesus gave us in John 10:27-28 are for everyone who hears His voice and follows Him. If we think that His burden is too heavy for us to carry, I suspect it must be because we have not loved Him enough. If we love the Lord with all our heart, all our soul, all our strength, and all our mind, and our neighbor as ourselves, no burden on earth is too heavy. He will help us carry our burden or show us ways to do it!
"Come to Me, all [you] who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. "For My yoke [is] easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30.
In summary, if we do not hear His voice and we do not follow Him, He is not our Shepherd and we are not His sheep. Anyone can snatch us out of His hands at any time. Anyone. John 10:27-28.
