WHAT DAY IS THE SABBATH?
According to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints the Sabbath is on a Sunday. According to the Seventh Day Adventist Church the Sabbath is on a Saturday. Who is right? Who is telling the truth? I wasn’t born when the first Sabbath was observed. And neither was the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints. So, who was already born when the Sabbath was given to us? The prophet Moses, remember? God gave to him, and not to me and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints the Ten Commandments, specifically, “Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day [is] the Sabbath of the LORD your God. [In it] you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who [is] within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.” Deuteronomy 5:12-15. And the Jews, not the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, began observing the Sabbath. It doesn’t surprise me at all, therefore, that most Christians, including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints don't know when the Sabbath is, Saturday or Sunday. But now they know. And so, who changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday? Emperor Constantine's 321 AD law mandating Sunday rest for much of the Roman Empire.
The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine gives this concise question-and-answer explanation of the history we’ve covered above:
“Q: Which is the Sabbath day?
“A: Saturday is the Sabbath day.
“Q: Why do we observe Sunday
instead of Saturday?
“A: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea, transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday” (Peter Geiermann, 1957, p. 50). It was the Catholic Pope who transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday. And we all worship the Pope on his day, Sunday, and not only in the Roman Empire.
The Sabbath that God gave to Moses was the seventh day of the week, and not the first day of the week.
Jesus said, "But why do you call Me `Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?” Luke 6:46.
Readers, who is our Lord? Is He the living Jesus, the living Yahweh, or the dead Roman Emperor Constantine?
Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23.
Are we doing the will of the living Jesus, the will of the living Yahweh, or the will of the dead Roman Emperor Constantine? Bro, there is no grace if we do not do the will of God the Father, none!
