WHICH COMES FIRST?

How can we know whether we qualify for God's grace or not? How can we know whether we will inherit eternal life or not? The answer to this question is very important for us to know because money is hard to come by and time is very short and precious. We have many different options that we can choose from, more than 45,000 different Christian denominations in the world, to find the path that can take us to heaven. In the US alone there are more than 200 different Christian groups or denominations that promise us eternal life. There are hundreds more or perhaps thousands of small non-official Christian denominations or groups in the US that also peddle Jesus, eternal life, and tax-free salaries and wages for leaders or organizers. In America, we have religious freedom. But do our religious teachers convey the true message that Jesus wants us to share with the world? No, not always, because they are always selfish, and right or wrong is not important to them. They are in survival mode.
In addition, many of these church managers or operators have little or no knowledge of what Jesus said. Their thinking and logic rarely go beyond their own logic and thinking. For example, last week a friend from a church took me to an Asian grocery store to buy groceries. I gave him gas money for taking me shopping. As we walked through the front door of the shop, a poor woman reached out and asked my friend for a change. My friend said curtly, facing me with his face, that he couldn't give her anything because she might have Covid-19. I couldn't believe what I heard. I didn't even see the face of the woman begging for money until after she left.
What are the business rules for Christians? The business rules for those of us who want to inherit eternal life are found in the Bible.
In Luke 10:25-37 a lawyer asked Jesus, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading?" So he answered and said, "'Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.'"
Jesus said to him, "What is written in the law? What are you reading?"
The lawyer then said, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.'" (sacrifice). Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do this thing. the same one." Jesus told the lawyer to WORK if he wanted to have eternal life! "To love" is a verb and not a noun. Jesus tells you and me too to WORK if we want eternal life. We must love God with all our hearts and love our neighbors as ourselves.
There are two parts to the law. "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.'"
Brothers and Sisters. These are the two conditions if we want to inherit eternal life - "'Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself which God requires us to do. Do you think the attorney will be able to inherit eternal life or salvation before he fulfills these two conditions? No, I do not believe he can! The lawyer must first fulfill the two work conditions before he can gain eternal life, or grace, from God.
Love is work. It is impossible to love God and love our neighbor without work. And Jesus told the attorney that he had to work first if he wanted to inherit eternal life (grace). So, which comes first, work or hope for grace? According to Jesus work must come first before grace. Read again Luke 10:25-37. Without work, there is no grace. But after we have done the work that Jesus requires of us, only then can we inherit eternal life. Look at Adam and Eve. They have eternal life, but God took it away from them because they could show no work of faith and obedience.
Most churchgoers are deceived by grandiose promises that they hear from the pulpits, but they don't know what conditions they must first meet before they can receive those promises. The devil works day and night to blind our eyes. The devil tries to deceive us with grandiose promises without requiring us to fulfill the two conditions demanded by God! All that we know is the word grace, grace, and more grace!
I have promised myself that if I go to the Asian grocery store again, I will try to find the woman who has asked my friend for change, and I will give her change, ten cents, twenty-five cents, dollars, whatever I can afford because I know that I will be very grateful to God if I were in her position and has to beg for money, and people would come and give me five cents, ten cents, or twenty-five cents so I could buy food to fill my hungry stomach. That is how I plan to glorify the name of my heavenly Father with the little money that I have!
