DECEPTION
When a new convert is led to believe by his/her pastor or preacher that he/she can claim the promises in the Bible without clearly giving the terms, express or implied, that accompany the promises, I think that is very wrong! That is a form of deception!
Some preachers exaggerate God’s promises in the Bible with the intent to get a quick conversion. This is also wrong! Preachers and ministers should be honest and transparent in anything that they do or say. For example, many, if not most of the converts believe that once they believe in Jesus, Satan cannot snatch them away from Jesus. This is not true. That is false teaching and a wrong interpretation of Jesus' words!
My favorite preacher whom I have followed for more than 20 years one day decided to retire. I could not understand why is he retiring at such a young age, 60 years of age.
Later I discovered that he eloped with a young married female preacher about half his age from the same denomination and left his old wife behind. He probably thinks that He can claim Jesus' promises of John 10:27-31. Does God want him to live in sin? No, I don’t think so. That was his choice.
Ministers and Preachers should always be truthful and credible in what they say. They are God’s representatives on earth.
See, for example, here what Jesus said in John 10:27-31 Jesus said,
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given [them] to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of My Father's hand. I and [My] Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.” What I will say next may surprise or shock you, but please don’t throw shoes or stones at me.
The promise of Jesus in John 10 was given to His sheep who follow Him.
Are you His sheep? Ask yourself first if you are His sheep and if you follow Him? If you follow Paul, Peter, and the other disciples, you are not His sheep. Jesus is the Chief Commander, and we follow Him.
Jesus said in John 7:7, "The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.” Do preachers and ministers know why Jesus said the world is evil?
If we want to claim Jesus’ promises, we have to follow Jesus, and not follow Paul, Peter, Matthew, or our preacher.
Just because my ex-preacher is a worker of God does not mean that it will give him a guarantee that Satan cannot snatch him away from the hand of God.
