ARE WE PLOTTING TO HURT HIM AGAIN?
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, [the] Beginning and [the] End, the First and the Last." Revelation 22:13
Readers, do we know who our God is? Is He the God of the Old Testaments, or is He the God of the New Testaments? Is He the God of the Jews, or is He the God of the Gentiles? I am not aware that the Gentiles have a different God. Why? Because there is only ONE God since the world was created, not two. And He is the God of work.
The God of the Old Testaments requires the Jews to do the following work to be saved:
(2) "I [am] the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. (3) "You shall have no other gods before Me. (4) "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness [of anything] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth; (5) you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth [generations] of those who hate Me, (6) but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. (7) "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold [him] guiltless who takes His name in vain. (8) "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. (9) Six days you shall labor and do all your work, (10) but the seventh day [is] the Sabbath of the LORD your God. [In it] you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who [is] within your gates. (11) For [in] six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that [is] in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. (12) "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you. (13) "You shall not murder. (14) "You shall not commit adultery. (15) "You shall not steal. (16) "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. (17) "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that [is] your neighbor's." Exodus 20:2-17.
The God of the New Testaments, Jesus Christ, requires the Jews and the non-Jews also to work and do the following work to be saved:
(30) `And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This [is] the first commandment. (31) "And the second, like [it, is] this: `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." Mark 12:30-31.
Exodus 20:2-17 is identical to Mark 12:30-31. Both require WORK to be saved.
What is different and opposite to Exodus 20:2-17 and Mark 12:30-31 is Ephesians 2:8-9. Paul says, (8) “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, (9) not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Paul says that we do not have to work or do anything to be saved. In other words, we can be slothful and stubborn and disobedient and still go to heaven as long as we have faith. Jesus Christ, however, said "If you love Me, keep My commandments”. Keeping His commandments is work. And without work repentance is impossible.
How can we love the LORD our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all your mind, and with all our strength,'” if we don’t keep His commandments? Are we planning to hurt Him again when we are in heaven? Is that the reason why we abolished all His commandments? Are we plotting to hurt Him again? Are we lying again? Why do we keep irritating God of the Old Testaments? Why do we keep making fun of the God of the New Testaments? Don't we know that there is only ONE God? Don't we have enough problems already? Or do we want more problems? The apostle James said faith without work is dead. Demons have a lot of faith in God, but no work. Don’t we know that hell is reserved for those who have faith but no work? Matthew 7:21-23.
The God of the Old Testaments said that He was sorry and grieved for creating us. Genesis 6:6. What do we want to hear the God of the New Testaments say? That He is sorry and grieved for keeping us alive?
