LIVING SEPARATELY
Readers, today I am going to write an article on a topic that I believe I have not written before. And I ask you, my readers, to criticize and make a judgment and determine whether what I am writing is Biblical or not. The question is simple. Is there a verse in the Bible that says that Hagar returns home to Abraham when Sarah is still alive? I say NO. Why? Because we know from reading the Bible that Abraham "divorced" Hagar and sent her away to live in the desert because there was no harmony between Sarah and Hagar at home. There was no charge of adultery here. Just for the sake of harmony, Abraham sent his second wife Hagar away to live in the desert with her newborn son Ishmael with no supplies other than what she had on her back - her clothes. Harmony in the home is so important in God’s eyes that God let Sarah, and Hagar live separately but blessed both of them individually. This tells me that living separately is not a sin for people who are married except when adultery is present. Adultery is a sin, but living separately is not. Living in sin under grace is making a mockery of God. It is an insult to God. But for married people to live separately is not a sin, unless one party commits the sin of adultery. Why do married couples want to live separately? There are many reasons why married couples want to live separately, and one is incompatibility problems. The incompatibility issue is not from failure to adjust to each other, but from personality problems. We all inherit certain traits from our parents, bad or good, and there is nothing that we can do about it. I believe that the disharmony between Sarah and Hagar comes from their personality differences, and not from failure to adjust. In such a case, I believe that the best solution is to live separately, but peacefully, especially when their children have all grown up. If the wife needs financial help, the husband is there to help her. If the husband needs financial help, the wife is there to help him. Jesus said, "Blessed [are] the pure in heart, For they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8. Bro, look deep into our hearts. and ask, what is the intention why we, married couples, want to live separately? If the intention is to find a young gorgeous woman or a man who can outperform Viagra, God will not bless us! But if we keep in harmony with God's will, we will soon reap our rewards.
