TAKE HEED
The
disciples asked Jesus, “Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples
came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And
what [will be] the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"
And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. "For many will come in My name, saying, `I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.” Matthew 24:3-5. Or, in other words, the Bible implied that we take heed of Christians who will come and teach false Christian teachings to tickle our ears with the intent to deceive us and to enrich themselves. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, [because] they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4. But Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me in that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23. Another sign of the end of time is this. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Mathew 24:14. Why wait until the gospel of the kingdom be preached in all the world before Jesus returns? Jesus says, they are His witness, so nobody can play dumb. So, nobody can say that they have never heard of God’s commandments. Here is another example, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9. Why do we have to take heed of deceivers? Because we know that faith alone without work can achieve nothing. The Apostle James said the demons have faith, but are they saved? No, they are not. Why do we have to take the warning seriously? Because, once we have been deceived by Satan, there is nothing that we can do to go back. There is no going back. Look at Adam and Eve. The serpent deceived them, and they promptly lost eternal life. When we disobeyed God’s warning, even as small as eating a small fruit, we can lose our eternal life, and there is nothing that we can do about it. What is that telling us? Jesus has zero tolerance toward people who disobey Him! And once we have been deceived, we cannot change the result. We have made our final choice. Remember, that we can permanently lose our salvation if we allow Satan to deceive us. No amount of regret or apology can save us.
