SUBMIT AND RESPECT
The Bible says, “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.” For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.” Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in everything.” Husbands love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,” So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.” Nevertheless, let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife [see] that she respects [her] husband.” Ephesians 5:22-25,28, 33.
Today, I want to talk about a subject that I have never heard a preacher talked in the church before. I believe this is a very important subject that cannot be ignored by the pastor of any church. The relationship between a husband and a wife is seen as the relationship between Christ and the church, as Christ is the head of the church, and the husband is the head of the wife. Why did the Bible talk about wives submitting to and respecting their husbands? Do you know the reason why? I think the reason is so that the husband can love his wife. If the church does not submit itself to Christ, and respect Jesus Christ, how can Christ love the church? If Christians do not submit to Jesus Christ, and respect Jesus Christ, how can Jesus love the Gentiles, aka the Pagans, how? We can have faith as big as the highest mountain in America but if we do not submit to the will of God and disrespect God, do you think God will save us? No, He will not! Read Salvation is not for Everyone.
Do my readers still remember the story about the two thieves on the cross? One of the thieves was saved, and the other was not. How about this next story? Do you still remember? Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23. Jesus rejected these men/women of great faith because they probably misunderstood “the will of My Father in heaven.” God does not care whether we misunderstand His will or not. Even if we say that we “misunderstood” Him, He will still reject us. How can we say that we misunderstood Him when what we do put lots of money in our pockets? By abolishing all His laws and commandments we become suddenly rich. Do we think we are smarter than Jesus because we have a Master and PhD degrees and Jesus has none? Finally, readers, I want you to figure out this great mystery mentioned in Ephesians 5:32: "This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church." The relationship between husbands and wives is not a mystery. We know that some couples fight most of the time, months, years, or even decades. I recently overheard a conversation between two married women. One woman was describing her chronic disagreements with her husband to her best friend, another woman. Her best friend told her - fight back! Is this a great mystery? That is a "mystery" to me. Do we show our gratitude to Jesus whom we say had died to pay for our sins by resisting or fighting back what Christ wants the church, Christians, to do? No, we do not!
