COMPARE AND CONTRAST

JESUS SAID , "If you love Me, keep My commandments. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.” Matthew 14:15,21,23,24. Paul’s salesmen wrote, Jesus Took Away the Old Law —The Law posed a problem; Jesus provided the solution We continue our study of three things that Jesus took away... 1 The Law Posed a Problem God’s law has always been perfectly right and just and merciful. This was true of the law he gave to Adam and Eve, and it is true of every law and commandment he has ever given to anyone—including the Law of Moses. Remember, Paul claims that the law was "holy,...

RECONCILIATION

Jesus said, "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24 Tonight I want to talk with my readers on the topic of reconciliation. Some readers do not understand what is involved in the process of reconciliation. Is saying “I am sorry” adequate? My answer is that it depends on the damage that is done. If it involves money of $20.00, then returning the money of $20.00, and an apology is adequate. Why is reconciliation so important in the eyes of Jesus? We know from reading the Bible that Satan is the Chief accuser, “the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night.” Revelation 12:10. Satan demands payback with our soul. That is what he wants, our soul, and not anything else. If God allows and permits Satan to take our soul we can die of a heart at...

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT GOSSIP?

Today I like to write what the Bible says about gossip. But first, let’s first read how the word gossiping is defined. And what a gossiper is. According to Webster's dictionary, a gossiper is defined as “ a person who habitually reveals personal or sensational facts about others.” This person can be anybody, a female or a male, a janitor, a garbage collector, or even a professional person such as a church pastor, a medical assistant, a nurse, a dentist, or even a doctor. I know of a female pastor who starts a conversation with gossip. She starts the conversation by asking me a question about a person whom we both know well. I think this pastor is consumed by gossip.  Romans 1:29 describes a gossiper as being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; [they are] whisperers.`` 2 Corinthians 12:20 says, “For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and [that]...

WITNESSING FOR JESUS

Jesus said let our light shine. "You are the light of the world . A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all [who are] in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”. Matthew 5:14-16. Jesus said that we are the light of the world. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”. Jesus wants us to “boast” so much that when people see our light they will glorify our Father in Heaven. Compare and contrast with what the apostle Paul had said. He said, “For by grace you have been saved through faith , and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9. Paul doesn't want us to show our good work . He wants us to show our faith . Doesn't Paul know that faith cannot save us unless the Lord a...

FIFTY YEARS AGO

Fifty years ago I did not preach what I am preaching today. Fifty years ago I did not do what I am preaching today. But I have learned a lot from 50 years of trial and error. And I have also learned a lot from the mistakes that other people make. Now is the time that God wants me to share with you what I have learned from my and other people’s experiences so that you do not have to go through the pain that we have experienced. I thank God that even though I came last, He put me first. And with His help, I plan to keep on writing until I can no longer write. I know that some of my articles will increase the anxiety level of some readers. But some degree of anxiety is good and necessary to stimulate learning and understanding. Today I want to talk a little bit on the subject of coveting . It is one of His Ten Commandments. Coveting is one of the serious errors that we make. I am going to quote what the Bible says about coveting. God says, "You shall not covet your neighbor's hou...

WHAT CAN WE LEARN?

What can we learn from reading the Bible? I mean, what have we learned from reading the Bible? When I read the story of Adam and Eve, I saw that God has zero tolerance for sin. When I read the story of Lucifer I saw the same thing, God has no tolerance for sin. When I read the story of Noah, I came to the same conclusion, and that is that God has zero tolerance for sin. Would the story of Lucifer, Adam and Eve, and billions of people who perished during the big flood end up differently if they would just repent? Or would they need a Savior to save them? Let me start with what I know. A Savior cannot save anyone unless we can or will repent. From the story that I read about Lucifer, Adam and Eve, and the billions of people who drowned and perished during the big flood I saw no evidence that any of them was willing to repent. Of those whom I know who are living in sin, or living in sin under grace, none of them is willing to repent either. They are happy to live in sin, or living in sin ...

HAVE OUR SINS BEEN FORGIVEN?

The Bible says that on Judgment Day all will be judged according to our work , whether we have followed the law or not. T he dead will be judged based on whether we are or we are not doing the will of the Father. And the will of the Father is that we are obedient to His laws and commandments. Heaven has no place for non-law-abiding souls.  Revelation 20:12 said, “And I saw the dead , small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.” Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart ...

DO YOU LOVE YOUR GOD?

Jesus said, “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This [is] the first commandment. And the second, like [it, is] this: `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."  Mark 12:30-31. The first part of the Law says, “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” The second part of the Law says, `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' Many Christians violated one or both of these laws. Do we know what we should do when we violated His laws? Jesus gave us the solution. Part of the solution is found in the Lord’s Prayer. The other part of the solution is found in the Ten Commandments and in Jesus’ teaching. Let us start with the first part of the Law - Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your stren...
