RECONCILIATION

Jesus said, "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24
Tonight I want to talk with my readers on the topic of reconciliation. Some readers do not understand what is involved in the process of reconciliation. Is saying “I am sorry” adequate? My answer is that it depends on the damage that is done. If it involves money of $20.00, then returning the money of $20.00, and an apology is adequate. Why is reconciliation so important in the eyes of Jesus?
We know from reading the Bible that Satan is the Chief accuser, “the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night.” Revelation 12:10. Satan demands payback with our soul. That is what he wants, our soul, and not anything else. If God allows and permits Satan to take our soul we can die of a heart attack, stroke, or car accident, or we can go to bed at night and never wake up in the morning.
Another reason why God wants us to reconcile or repent is that He doesn’t want us to live in sin if we do not reconcile.
God has no tolerance for sin, none at all. Look what He did to the billions who drowned during the big flood. I am sure that those who perished have committed wrongdoing or sin that are committed by today’s Christians. God destroyed them all. God sees sin as sin. God hates sin. In God’s eyes, there is no such thing as living in sin under grace. Living in sin under grace is the invention of the church to make it look as if God tolerates sin.
Someone has asked what should the pastor who had left his old wife for a younger woman do?
My answer is to send the younger woman home where she belongs and reconcile with his old wife. She has done nothing wrong to her husband other than growing old. That’s what Matthew 5:23-24 implies.
"But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.” Matthew 5:32.
