ONCE LOST, FOREVER LOST
Jesus said, "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one title will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled." Matthew 5:17-18. Jesus knew that His followers will change His Law, and that's why He gave us this warning. And He furthermore said this, "Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches [them], he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. "For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:19-20.
The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine gives this concise question-and-answer explanation of the history we have covered above:
“Q: Which is the Sabbath day?
“A: Saturday is the Sabbath day.
“Q: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
“A: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea, transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday” (Peter Geiermann, 1957, p. 50).
Readers, I want to ask you a question. What you have just read, is that an example of once saved, forever saved? Or, is that an example of once lost, forever lost?
Look Bro, don't stare at me. I did not change God's Law. Stare at the man who changed God's Law.
Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Matthew 7:21-23. Lawbreakers have no place in heaven. Jesus rejects these men/women of great faith not because of their lack of faith, but because of lack of work. They do not do the will of God the Father. They do not follow the law. They are lawbreakers. He called them practicing lawlessness. They are living in sin.
In Romans 6:15 the apostle Paul wrote, “What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” Paul says that we cannot sin even though we are not under the law but under grace. No grace permits us to violate God's laws. Paul contradicts himself, but that is okay. He is being honest with himself. Are we honest? Are we the good shepherd?
Finally, I want to write a line or two about what the Spirit of Prophecy says about the fate of Satan, and the fate of us who do not do the will of God the Father.
“Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number [is] as the sand of the sea. They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet [are]. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Revelation 20:7-10. Do you know why they will be tormented day and night? Because the soul is resistant to death.
