FEAR OF THE LORD
"The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One [is] understanding. For by me, your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you (Proverbs 9:10-11).
Yes, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. In fact, I believe that the fear of the Lord is our only source of wisdom that comes from God! And not only that, the fear of the Lord is what motivates us to fully obey Him. Abraham was ready to sacrifice his only son Isaac because of fear of the Lord, and not because of his faith in God. What do you think motivates most people to obey the law, love the police, or fear the police? Love for the IRS, or fear of the IRS? Love for the SWAT team, or fear of the SWAT team? Many of today’s Christians say that they love Jesus. But Jesus said in John 14:15, "If you love me, keep My commandments." Do we keep His commandments? No, we do not. We ignore them. Do you know why? Because we have no fear of the Lord, only "love". For millions of Christians, love for God does not translate into fear of God. Consequently, they do what they want to do with His words. Jesus said if we love Him we will keep His commandments. Do we keep them? No, we do not. We flush His commandments into the toilet. Why? Because we are not smart, number one. Number two, we think that God will still love us regardless of what we do with His words. Do we know who Jesus is? Here’s what Jesus said in Matthew 18:8-9,
"If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast [it] from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast [it] from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.” Do you think He was exaggerating? No, He was serious, just as serious as when He drowned billions of people during the big flood, babies, children, adults, senior citizens, and even animals.
We do whatever we want to do with His words because we do not fear Him. We do not love Him, we do not respect Him, and we do not fear Him. We bow down low to the floor before Paul because he was an educated man, a lawyer, whereas Jesus was just a carpenter. We respected Jesus because of Paul.
Lucifer and billions of his angels, Adam and Eve, and the billions of people who were swept away by the big flood had no fear of the Lord. God is sick and tired of the so-called Christians who have no fear of Him. We must respect and fear the Lord if we want to live with Him.
In Genesis 22:12 God told Abraham, “And He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only [son], from Me."
Those who do not fear Him and do not follow His commandments are not wise. If a preacher tells us to forget about His laws, the Ten Commandments of God, that individual has no fear of the Lord and is not wise! Why? Because the Ten Commandments are God's words. What do we do with the preacher's advice? Ignore them immediately! Satan wants us to have nothing to do with God's commandments, rules, and laws. We should not be anywhere near him, even if he is our best friend. And you don’t want to be anywhere close to him either, even if he is your only friend. Your preacher friend doesn’t love Jesus. He doesn’t care about your soul. He loves only his pocket, that is all. He wants you to believe that it is easy for you to go to heaven when it never is or was if we don't honor Him. The standard for entry into the Kingdom of God is high!
We must be absolutely obedient to Him if we want to live with Him. We must work in partnership with God if we wish to meet His standard. We can never do it alone. And, most importantly, we must fully surrender ourselves to God. We must allow Him to govern our lives with His laws, and not try to bargain with Him to accept our self-made laws instead. If we don't like His Laws, find another religion that can tickle our ears. But don't mess up His Laws! His laws are fair and holy! God also promised that if we fear Him years of life will be added to us. Noah died when he was 950 years.
Salvation stands on three legs. The first leg is obedience to God. That is our hardest job or task. The second leg is our willingness to do what our partnership agreement with God, the Bible, requires us to do. And the third leg is God’s grace.
Adam and Eve lost eternal life because they were not obedient to God. Lucifer and millions of his angels lost eternal life because they don’t fear God. They want to position themselves in a superior position exceeding God’s authority. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. He humbled himself before God. Noah earned God's grace!
Are we the first nation in the West that does not fear the Lord? I think we are. And other nations are following in our footsteps. We think that we are experts in reading God's mind. We think that we know God.
Jesus said, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?" (Luke 6:46)
Here is what He wants us to do - Luke 10:25-28, And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading [of it]?" So he answered and said, "`You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and `your neighbor as yourself.'' "And He said to him, "You have answered rightly; do this and you will live."
Do we know what Jesus and the lawyer were talking about? They were talking about the TEN COMMANDMENTS. Jesus said do what the law says and you will live! Do what the law says and we will live with Him forever! Don't ignore His Laws. They are holy!
God bless!
