WHAT I LIKE TO DO
One of the things that I like to do is to ask questions when I read the Bible. What is the Bible saying? What is the Bible trying to tell me? What does Jesus want me to learn from what He says? And so I ask questions to Jesus, I ask questions to myself, I ask questions to my wife, and now I ask questions to you, my readers. Is it true that once saved we are forever saved? For example, Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28. Many modern Christians claim that once they are saved they are forever saved based on John 10:27-28. I was shocked when I first heard this kind of claim because I have never heard about it since I was born. And so I decided to analyze John 10:27-28 carefully. First, let me make it very clear that Jesus was talking about “My sheep.” He wasn’t talking about His neighbor’s sheep. He was talking about His sheep, “My sheep.” Second, do we hear His voice? Third, do we do what His voice tells us to do? Are we all of the above? If not, we have no right to claim any part of John 10:27-28.
Furthermore, Jesus said, “neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.,” except God Himself. God can take eternal life away from anyone even after He had given them to us. Do we remember the story of Adam and Eve? How about Lucifer and billions of his angels who were kicked out from heaven to live with us as our neighbors?
There is nothing to boast about salvation until we have them in our hands. There is nothing to boast about salvation until we live with Jesus on the new earth.
At night when I go to bed, I thank God for giving me life to do His will. I thank God for giving me health so I can continue to write for Him.
I thank God for giving me the wisdom and showing me how to do the work that He wants me to do for Him. I thank God for the food that I have on my table.
Finally, I ask Jesus when He returns to remember to take us to heaven with Him, me, my wife, my children, and my mother and father.
I boast nothing, not even my personal salvation. I claim nothing. I am the thief on the cross, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." Luke 23:42
Now I want to take a little time to discuss the story of Adam and Eve with you all from a different perspective. I think It is important for us to know. Here’s the story, “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, `You shall not eat of every tree of the garden' ?" And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; "but of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God has said, `You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'" Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." So when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make [one] wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they [were] naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.” Genesis 3:1-7 Do you see anything unusual in this story? Note that God first created Adam, and later He created Eve to be Adam’s helper. This is normal. The husband is usually the leader, and the wife usually follows him. This is also Biblical.
But in this Adam and Eve story, we see that Eve is the leader, not Adam, and Adam is the sucker. Adam took the food straight from Eve’s hand and ate them without any question. Consequently, both lost their eternal lives.
What important lesson can we learn from this story? I believe that the most important lesson that we must learn from the Adam and Eve story is that we are responsible for our own salvation. Wives cannot depend on their husbands for their salvation, and husbands cannot depend on their wives for their salvation. Each has to work for its own salvation.
DO NOT ASSUME that fathers know best or mothers know best about the commandments of God. One or both can be wrong!
