SECOND CHANCES

The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

I don’t know how much God so loved the world considering what He did to the world thousands of years ago, destroying the world during Noah’s time except for Noah and His family.

“Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every intent of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them." But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generation. Noah walked with God.” Genesis 6:5-9.

I believe that God sent Jesus to us because He wanted to give us a second chance which He did not give to Adam and Eve. In fact, He gave us more than a second chance. He gave us hundreds or thousands of second chances. And in doing so He lost His life on the cross to give us life. In John 7:7 Jesus said to His disciples, "The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify that its works are evil." But Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:3-4, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, [because] they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables." And the time has long arrived.

Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:21-22. He gave me hundreds or more of second chances in my lifetime. My older brother passed away when he was in his early twenties. He refused to listen to the voice of the holy spirit. A second chance for what? A second chance to make things right with Him. Second chance to repent. As long as we are willing to repent, He will keep the door open for us. And He will keep the door open for you too as long as you are willing to repent. The door will be closed only when we close the door. The door closes when we refuse to repent. The door closes when we persistently refuse to hear the voice of the holy spirit.

"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy [against] the Spirit will not be forgiven men. "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the [age] to come.” Matthew 12:32-32. Please read The Unpardonable Sin for further study.

The Unpardonable Sin is a sin that has no chance of repentance. Why? Here’s why:

"[You] stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers [did], so [do] you.” Acts 7:51

For the remaining part of this article, I want to talk a little bit about the Triad of Salvation, a theory that I have developed. Salvation is a partnership between God and us. We must walk hand-in-hand with God as Enoch and Noah did. We cannot walk alone. Salvation stands on three legs - work, grace, and salvation. Work is our part, grace is God’s part, and salvation is our part together - God working together with us in a partnership to help us do His will. We must be in partnership with God if we want to be saved. Why? Because no one can be saved walking alone. Jesus said that only those who endure till the end will be saved. The only way that we can endure till the end is when we walk in a partnership with Him, as the Prophet Enoch and Noah did. They walked hand-in-hand with God.
God gave us so many second chances in our lifetime so that we can make things right with Him. He loves us! Happy Sabbath!
