THE SACRIFICIAL LAW

Readers, today I want to talk a little bit about the Sacrificial Law. I don’t believe I have written enough on this subject in the past. Why? Because I thought that that was the reason why He came down to earth, to pay for our sin. I was wrong. I could find no verse in the Bible where Jesus had said that He died to pay for our sin. He died to defend us, or He died for what He believed makes good sense. But to say that He died to pay for our sin is not only hyperbole, but it is also delusional thinking. I think many Christian churches spread this nonsense to make us feel guilty so that we will give money to the church, and that is wrong!  Very wrong! Let members of the church sell their expensive jewelries and give that to the church as a sacrificial offering instead of making church members feel guilty! Jesus said"If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.” Matthew 5:29-30. The Jesus who says like this would never sacrifice Himself or die to pay for our sin, never! Jesus wants us to pay for our sin! Sin is our problem, not His problem. The sacrificial law is for imperfect beings, like me, and you, and the apostle Paul. But Jesus is a perfect being. Why does He have to sacrifice Himself for our sin? For what? Jesus has no sin. He has no need to cut His hand, but we do, according to Jesus.
Preachers, do not make us feel guilty by preaching nonsense from the pulpit!  Here’s another verse from the Bible that shows that we have to redeem our own sin. Jesus said, "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24. Jesus doesn’t want to accept our sin offering unless we first reconcile with a brother whom we have offended. Do you think Jesus will die to pay for our sin? Quit spreading that nonsense from the pulpit to make money. Here is perhaps a better way for a church to make money. There is a local church near where I live that is quickly expanding overnight. The church hires a group of talented young band players during the two services to play “rock” church music. And people are standing in long lines to get free drinks, cakes, donuts, etcetera. The church is giving free breakfast and free entertainment, and visitors are giving donations to the church, without preachers making them feel guilty. This is a smart idea of making money. When is your church going to do this? This is a better and more ethical way of making money than making people feel guilty to get their checks and credit cards. The whole purpose of the sacrificial law is to pay for our sin. Jesus is not subject to the sacrificial law. He is perfect. But we are not. We pay for our sin, and not Jesus! Matthew 5:23-24. Jesus is perfect and sinless. And we should not be expecting Him to pay for our sins. Jesus was crucified and died as a martyr. That’s true and correct. And there were many prophets recorded in history who died as martyrs for what they believed. But I have not heard of any Protestant preacher who was hurt solely for spreading the Gospel in America. But I have, however, read about a Protestant minister, who himself is the son of a well known preacher, who has to pay millions of dollars to women who got sexually transmitted diseases from him. Whose fault is it? I believe it was Paul’s fault? Why? Because millions of Christians were misled by Paul that Christians can live in sin under grace.
In Genesis 6:5-8. God said, “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every intent of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them." And God destroyed all of them, and made them PAY for their sins! But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” Do you know why? Because Noah was obedient to God. He did everything that God wanted Him to do? God killed millions or billions of people during the big flood. But Lucifer and his angels were spared during the big flood. The flood did not kill Lucifer and his angels. Why? I do not know. And I am not privileged to know. But that’s okay.
Jesus died on the cross as a martyr. He set Himself as an example for us to follow. "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. "And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. "Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. "But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Matthew 24:9-11,13.
Many will be hated and killed for His name’s sake. Many will become martyrs of God.
Brothers and Sisters. We are now fast approaching the end of Jesus’ prophecy. Are we ready to meet Him?
