Jesus said, "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world . A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all [who are] in the house. Paul, on the other hand, contradicts Jesus and said, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. ” Ephesians 2:8-9. Paul said put your light under a basket. Don't glorify God with our good works. But in James 2:17 we read, "Thus also faith by itself if it does not have works, is dead.
