LIVING IN SIN UNDER GRACE

"The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding, and they were not willing to come. Again, he sent out other servants, saying, `Tell those who are invited, "See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle [are] killed, and all things [are] ready. Come to the wedding."' "But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. "And the rest seized his servants, treated [them] spitefully, and killed [them]. "But when the king heard [about it], he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. "Then he said to his servants, `The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. `Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.' "So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding [hall] was filled with guests. "But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. "So he said to him, `Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. "Then the king said to the servants, `Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' "For many are called, but few [are] chosen." Matthew 22:1-14.

Why was this man speechless? Do you want to know why? Because he knew that he was wrong to come to the wedding without a wedding garment. He knew that he was wrong, yet he continued to come to the wedding knowing that he was wrong wearing no wedding garment.

Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23,  "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

Many Christians know that it is wrong to live in sin. But how could they get out of a situation that they have brought upon themselves when the decision they made to do what they did violated God's laws? Do they have no fear of God? Do they not know that God is watching them from above? Fear of God and avoiding sin are the two things that we must always remember when making important decisions in our lives so we won’t regret later and be forced to live in sin. We must always fear God and avoid sin, and take them into consideration before we decide to run away with somebody’s husband or somebody’s wife and maybe have kids later. When this happens, we will live in sin until we die. This man knew that he was to wear a wedding garment. But he thought that the king would show mercy on him because he came to the wedding but only without a wedding garment. That's why he was speechless when the king asked him, "Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?" What is the wedding garment? The wedding garment is doing the will of the king.

The wedding garment is "doing the will of My Father in heaven." Do we know what the will of God the Father is? Jesus said if we do not do the will of the Father, and we live in sin, we can still lose our salvation even though we are already saved. "For many are called, but few [are] chosen." Judas Iscariot was called, but he was not chosen. Why? Because he was not doing his work for which he was called. Are we doing His will, or are we doing our will? Brothers and sisters, doing the will of the Father is work that He wants us to do. We cannot do work with faith only. It is our part of the agreement that we must do first - work. And after we have done our work part, our faithful Father will do His part and grant us His rewards - grace, mercy, and eternal life.

When we do His will we skip living in sin. We must avoid living in sin. God doesn't want His children to live in sin. However, some Christians argue and believe that they can live in sin under "grace." I believe that the solution to a sinful life is to repent, and not to live in sin under "grace."

The work that this man must do is to wear a wedding garment when he comes to the wedding. But he ignored the king, and this made the king furious. The work that every Christian must do is to fear the Lord and avoid living in sin. But what did we do? We ignored the LORD and threw His commandments in the trash. Consequently, we end up living in sin. The danger of living in sin is that we may never get out of sin until we die.

In another story, Jesus said, "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, "leave your gift there before the altar and go your way. First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24. When we can do this, we skip living in sin. Our Father in Heaven doesn't want His children to live in sin. Avoid covetousness. Covetousness can often lead to living in sin under grace. When we live in sin under grace, repentance is impossible. Without repentance, perfection is impossible.

Living in sin is totally unacceptable! Living in sin under grace is an insult to Jesus. We mislead people to believe that Jesus approves sin. Jesus said, "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.” Matthew 5:29-30. Pastors and preachers spread this lie based on what Paul wrote, “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.” Romans 6:14. Do you see any grace in Matthew 5:29-30. No, none, not a word. "Pluck it out and cut it off" are not phrases of grace. They are God's law.
