FALSE PREACHERS
I want to find out what the Bible says about false preachers. I started the Google search. I was shocked when I discovered a website that listed about 95 Bible verses that warned us about false preachers, teachers, and prophets. The warnings were given to us about 2,000 years ago, a long time ago. Today, I guess there may be more than a million false teachers, preachers, and prophets all over the world. The apostle Paul has already predicted about these fake teachers in 2 Timothy 4:3-4, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, [because] they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” Why do people like to listen to false preachers? Because the messages that they bring will tickle our ears, such as this, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.
Compare that with this, "If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast [it] from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than have two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast [it] from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.” Matthew 18:8-9.
Which one do you like better, Ephesians 2:8-9, or Matthew 18:8-9? I am sure that most of us will like Ephesians 2:8-9 better, right? Why? Because they tickle our ears, and Matthew 18:8-9 don’t. But messages like in Ephesians 2:8-9 deceived us. And so we choose to go to churches that tickle our ears even though they deceived us and avoid going to churches that give us messages like Matthew 18:8-9. Most churches don’t want to hear Jesus’ words. They want to hear Paul’s messages because Paul’s messages tickle their ears, even though they are far from the truth.
Why would people want to become false teachers and false prophets? What would they gain from being false teachers, preachers, and prophets? Well, they have no choice. Most of these new young preachers and Bible teachers have no jobs. They have no job skills other than talking. They usually come from a family of pastors and ministers. And they are attracted to attend large universities here in the US and overseas to become church leaders and pastors, not realizing that they have chosen a job to become salesmen. I called them Jesus’ salesmen. That’s what they are. What do they sell? They sell Jesus' promises of eternal life. And that is an easy selling job particularly when buyers don’t have to meet any conditions to get eternal life. There were no terms that buyers had to fulfill to claim the warranty of eternal life. There were no conditions required other than “faith.” Can you believe that? Demons believe in Jesus, and that means that the New Earth will be full of demons because demons believe in Jesus? What have we been smoking to believe that that faith nonsense will take us to heaven?
It was harder to sell warranties of eternal life before Jesus was born because the Pharisees were selling the warranties of eternal life. They made it almost impossible for anyone to go to heaven. Today's preachers make it extremely easy to go to heaven as if heaven belongs to their mothers.
Then I started searching the internet for good preachers. I found about half a dozen names. They are good talkers. But they are good talkers only. I am not happy with good talkers. I am happy with honest preachers who are honest and ethical in what they say and do. Honest preachers who follow Jesus.
