THE REASON
"In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as [it is] in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13.
Your will be done on earth as [it is] in heaven. This is the reason why we have so many problems not only in our relationships at home, at work, in church, or even with God, and that is because we want to do our will, and not God’s will - Your will be done on earth as [it is] in heaven. When we do our will, we can go wrong. But if we do God’s will, we cannot go wrong. We can never go wrong! But we have to ask when we pray and ask Him to help us do His will, and not do our will. And, as an extra bonus for doing His will, God will protect us from falling into temptation. He will deliver us from people who want to do bad things to us. That is His promise that we can bet on!
In Matthew 7:11 Jesus said, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Ask God to give us the talent to do His will, and our Father in Heaven will give it to us, guaranteed!
When we want to do our will, Satan has set his traps along the way to make sure we will fall! And we will fall, sooner or later!! Look at Adam and Eve. Did they not fall? Why did they fall?
Because they wanted to do their will. Look at Lucifer. Why did he fall? Because he wanted to do his will. Why did my church pastor betray his faith in God? Because he wanted to do his will and not God’s will. I have more stories that I can cite here, but I will defer it to some other time when it is appropriate.
Your will be done on earth as [it is] in heaven. This is what Jesus had taught us.
Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28.
This is a personal promise from Jesus to His sheep who follow Him. He did not say, “My sheep hear Our voice and follow Us.” Do my readers understand the difference?
I hope they do because I have faith in their intelligence.
Jesus said in John 7:7, "The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.”
