WHAT WERE THEY READING?
Proverbs 1:1-3 says, “Blessed [is] the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
King Solomon knew what he was talking about. “And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore. Thus Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt. And men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom, came to hear the wisdom of Solomon.” 1 Kings 4:29, 30, 34.
Do you want to know why Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt? Because King Solomon's delight [is] in the law of the LORD, and he meditates day and night in His law.
Solomon's delight is in the law of the Lord. And he meditates in His law day and night. And in whatever he does he prospers. What “law of the Lord” was he talking about? Was it the "Torah law"? Yes, at the minimum it must be because, during King Solomon’s time, there was no Bible. The Torah law was used in the Jewish synagogue long before and during the time of Jesus, and even today by the Jews. But, I believe there were more of God's laws than what God gave to Moses that He wanted us to know. It started way back with Adam and Eve. It was a collection of God's Laws that goes way back to the beginning of humanity that shapes the lives of great men of faith such as Abraham, Noah, Moses, Daniel, and others that we know. It was not only the "Torah laws".
That brought me to wonder and think about what is it in the "Torah law" that produces such great men as Moses, Noah, King Solomon, David, Daniel, etc, and none who reads the Bible?

The Torah law was given to the Jews by God's prophets. Yes, it was the traditional Torah law that produces and shapes the lives of such great men as Moses, King Solomon, Noah, Job, and even Jesus. God's laws influence the lives of Adam and Eve all the way down to the lives of the smallest living creature on earth. Jesus talks about God's law on each Sabbath. He is quite knowledgeable about the "Torah law". But there is more than what God gave to Moses that shapes the lives of God's prophets. There is more than the Ten Commandments!
Why don't we have wise preachers and ministers today like King Solomon? Do you want to know why? Because their delight is not in the law of the LORD, and they do not meditate day and night in His law.
Their delight is in trashing God's laws and commandments.
Preachers and ministers have declared that the laws of God are no longer valid after Jesus died on the cross.
