THE FEAR OF ABRAHAM

My Sabbath ends in about an hour or so, and the new week starts again. I could hardly believe that the week went by so fast. Jesus is coming soon. Are we ready to greet Him? Are we ready to meet Him? People have waited for His return for a long time, for thousands of years. Some people thought that His return would be delayed. Some skeptics believe that Jesus' return is a scam. No, Brothers and Sisters, Jesus keeps His promises. He is faithful to His words. “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day [is] as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning [His] promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:8-9. He wants us to repent. He wants us to be perfect as His Father in Heaven is perfect. "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48. Jesus is perfect. Heaven is perfect.
The topic that I have chosen for today is The Fear of Abraham. It’s a new topic that no one has written about. For centuries, or perhaps millennia, preachers have been preaching across the globe about the Faith of Abraham. But no one catches this important falsehood. There is no such thing as the faith of Abraham. The faith of Abraham is used as a ploy to make money by many preachers across the world. There is no such thing as “faith of Abraham”; yet preachers continue to preach falsehoods every week to make money. Fear of Abraham, yes. Faith of Abraham, no. Faith of Abraham is a ploy to make money.
“Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" So he said, "Here I am." And He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only [son], from Me." Genesis 22:9-12.
God said not a word about faith, nothing, but Bible hackers twisted it around so it fits with what Paul said, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast”. Ephesians 2:8-9.
The apostle James said, “But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.” James 2:20-24.
Brethren, just because we go to church every week does not guarantee that we will be saved! Even when we go to church with faith as large as a mountain does not guarantee that we will be saved.
Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23.
Christians do not need the faith of Abraham. Christians need the fear of Abraham. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of salvation.
