WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH?
According to the apostle Paul, aka as Saul, salvation is based on grace through faith alone. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesian 2:8-9. I agree that, by definition, salvation is based on grace. But, how do we get God's grace?. How? According to Paul, aka as Saul, we get God’s grace through faith in God, and “not of works”. In other words, we can be killing Christians like Saul did and still be saved as long as we have faith. Really? I want to ask this question to all of Paul’s followers. Can Paul be “saved” if he continues his work of murdering innocent Christians? According to Ephesians 2:8-9 he can be saved as long as he has faith in God. Work is not considered necessary at all in Ephesians 2:8-9.
Isn’t work important for the apostle Paul if he wants to be saved? Does he not have to stop killing innocent Christians if he wants to be saved? I am asking this question to my readers who called themselves Apostles of Jesus.
What do you think? Paul has to stop killing innocent people, does he not? He has to restrain himself from killing Christians. Is restraining oneself not considered work? The word to restrain is a verb, not a noun. Paul has to work if he wants to stop killing people, unless he is kept in a prison. In that case, the prison restrains him from killing other people.
James, a true apostle of Jesus said, “What [does it] profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?” Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:14, 17. No, faith without work cannot save anyone. See here what Jesus said to these men/women of great faith, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23.
Faith alone can save no one. The apostle James said that faith cannot save us. “But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.” James 2:20-24.
And Jesus implied in Matthew 7:21-23 that faith alone cannot save us! If we believe in Jesus that He will save us does not mean that He will save us. The men/women of great faith described in Matthew 7:21-23 believed that Jesus will save them. Instead, Jesus sends them straight to hell! No detour.
