HOW DO WE DO IT?
Readers, Jesus said, "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect” Matthew 5:48. Do you know why Jesus wants us to be perfect? Here's the reason why. “Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” Revelation 12:10. Satan is our accuser, who accused us before our God day and night. If we Christians are found guilty of falsifying business records, for example, or guilty of any wrongful conduct that Satan has brought against us, we have greatly dishonored Jesus whom we said have died to pay for our sin! We have not glorified His name. We have humiliated Him. Do we know that? That was the reason why God evicted Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, because they have humiliated God in the presence of Satan, the serpent. They have chosen to obey Satan, and not to obey God. Thank you Holy Spirit for making me understand what You want me to know about things that I did not understand before.
Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Brothers and Sisters, how can we glorify our Father in heaven when we have caused such great dishonor to God in the presence of Satan, how? How can we be perfect and glorify His name before the world if we won't listen to Him, and cannot control ourselves? How can we let our light shine before the world? First, we must have the light in us. And that light is God’s words. There is no other light in us if the source of that light does not come from Jesus. There could be more than one way that we can do this. King David wrote, “Blessed [is] the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight [is] in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.” Psalm 1:1-2. The prophet Joshua wrote, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8. Keeping His commandments is one way that we humans can become perfect. Why? Because if we do what He tells us to do, how can we become imperfect? If we do what He tells us to do, how can we go wrong? Adam and Eve were perfect when God created them, were they not? But they became imperfect when they refused to do what God had told them not to do, and they ate the forbidden fruit anyway. They refused to do what God had told them to do. They listened to the serpent. As a result God took eternal life away from them. Look at the millions or billions of angels. They listened to what Lucifer told them to do, and not to God. Consequently, they too were evicted. When we refuse to do what God has told us to do we will become imperfect. If we listened to anyone other than Jesus, we are taking a huge risk! Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me." John 10:27. We say that Jesus is our savior. We also say that Jesus has died to pay for our sin. But WHY are we not following Him, why? As long as we disobey Him, we can never become perfect, never! We can never become His sheep, and He can never be our Shepherd if we do not follow Him. Jesus said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.” John 14:15,21-24.
I could never comprehend why we don't love Jesus whom we say has died to pay for our sin, but instead we love Paul who taught us how to circumvent God's laws. Where do we think we are going?
In conclusion, Brothers and Sisters, God and His prophets tell us in the texts that I have quoted above that it is important that we keep His commandments. Why? Because when we obey Him God will help us and make us perfect! When we disobey Him, we will become imperfect, just like Adam and Eve. Obeying JESUS should become our nature after we are born again. When we obey Jesus He will make us perfect! We are born again.
Satan, have mercy upon us. Give us a break for a change. LOL
