TALK LIKE JESUS
If pastors talk like Jesus, the work of spreading the Gospel is long done, finished. But they don’t. They talk like politicians looking for a new job. And consequently the work of spreading the Gospel is going nowhere. If you see churches growing exceedingly well overnight it is because pastors are tickling their members' ears as the apostle Paul, aka Saul, had said in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”; “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, [because] they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4. Paul says that church members will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” Why? Because they have itching ears. And Paul's prediction becomes a reality. That’s why a dead church can suddenly become rich overnight because the pastors talk like politicians looking for a new job. Jesus said, "If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast [it] from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. "And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast [it] from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.” Matthew 18:8-9. What are these two verses telling us? They tell me that God has zero tolerance for sin. If our arm or eye causes us to sin, we will go to hell, Jesus said. Can we live in sin under grace? NO, not if we know that we cannot live in sin, grace or no grace. What then should we do? Repent Bro, repent. What effect should Matthew 18:8-9 have on us? It should make us fear of committing sin. And I believe that was the reason why Jesus talked the way He talked in the Bible, to make us fear of committing sin. Jesus could talk like a politician looking for a new job, but He did not. He wants to give us an example of how we should talk. All Pastors should learn from Jesus how to talk. If we have the skill to talk like a diplomat, using words that don’t hurt people, do that. But make sure that the people that we talk to understand that God doesn’t like their behavior. The job of all Pastors is to assist members to understand what the will of God is. Encourage them to do the will of God. Help them in their journey to heaven. Once they do the will of God, our job is done.
Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me in that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23.
In other words, not everyone who goes to church every week, or even every day will enter the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
