SALVATION IS NOT FREE

Brothers and Sisters. May I remind you, again, that salvation is not free. We have to earn it. Remember, the first thief on the cross who was hanged hurled abusive words at Jesus and said, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us." But the other thief, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? "And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." Luke 23:39-43. Both thieves were sentenced to death on the cross. Jesus saved the second thief, but not the first. Do you know why? Because the second thief earned it, but the first thief did not. If the second thief had not said a word, both thieves will not be saved. And so, please understand that salvation must be earned. Salvation is not free. Salvation is never free. We have to earn it.
Look at Adam and Eve. God took away salvation from them. God evicted them from the Garden of Eden. And we all know why they were evicted. They did not earn it! They did not do what God had told them to do.
Lucifer and millions of his angels were also evicted from heaven. And we also know why God evicted them from heaven. They did not earn salvation. The millions of people who drowned and lost their lives during Noah’s time also did not earn salvation. “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” Genesis 6:8.
We must earn our salvation. If we do not, He will take salvation away from us, even if we are already saved. God said, "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16.
Here is another proof that salvation is not free. "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.” Matthew 5:29-30. We have to earn it!
