SIN NO MORE
Few Christians know or understand why Jesus was crucified. The Bible gives us a full history about Jesus from His birth to His death on the cross. My story about why Jesus was crucified is the same as in the Bible. Unless we know the true history of Jesus’ life, we cannot talk about why Jesus was crucified. Jesus said, "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” Matthew 10:34. One morning while Jesus was teaching in a temple the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. "Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?" This they said, testing Him, that they might have [something] of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with [His] finger, as though He did not hear. And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard [it], being convicted by [their] conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest [even] to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, "Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?" She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more." John 8:2-11. Brothers and Sisters, sin no more was the advice that Jesus gave to the prostitute. Sin no more was the message that Jesus brought to all of us since He came to the world. “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every intent of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually.” Genesis 6:5. Jesus said to His disciples, “The world cannot hate You, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.” John 7:7. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead [men's] bones and all uncleanness.” (Matthew 23:27) "For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:20). Then He said to them in His teaching, "Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, [love] greetings in the marketplaces, "the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts," who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation." (Mark 12:38-40). "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in [yourselves] nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation." Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. “Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged [to perform it].' "Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? "And, `Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obliged [to perform it].'"Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?" Therefore he who swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it. "He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwells in it. "And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin and have neglected the weightier [matters] of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. "Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!" Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. "Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead [men's] bones and all uncleanness. "Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous," and say, "If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. '"Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. "Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers' [guilt]. "Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? "Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: [some] of them you will kill and crucify, and [some] of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, "that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. "Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.” (Matthew 23:13-36).
Jesus was crucified on the cross not to pay for our sins. He was crucified on the cross because the Jews found Him guilty of blasphemy. He said that He is God. The Jews, however, did not recognize Him as the Messiah, and so they killed Him. When Jesus had a hearing before Pontius Pilate, the governor of Judea, Pilate asked Jesus, "Are You the King of the Jews?" He answered and said to him, "[It is as] you say." And the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing. Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, "Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!" Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, "Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!" But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled. Now at the feast he was accustomed to releasing one prisoner to them, whomever they requested. And there was one named Barabbas, [who was] chained with his fellow rebels; they had committed murder in the rebellion. Then the multitude, crying aloud, began to ask [him to do] just as he had always done for them. But Pilate answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?" For he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them. Pilate answered and said to them again, "What then do you want me to do [with Him] whom you call the King of the Jews?" So they cried out again, "Crucify Him!" Matthew 15:2-13. Jesus was crucified not because of violation of any law. Jesus was crucified to please the crowd. The idea that Jesus was crucified to pay for our sin is a fraud. It is a lie perpetrated by the Gentiles! Jesus said, "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.” Matthew 5:29-30. This one verse alone should tell us that Jesus is not interested in dying to pay our sin. He wants us to suffer and pay for our own sin. Jesus wants us to sin no more, and not live in sin under "grace."
