SURPRISE?
Readers, do you know why Jesus was crucified? If you don’t know, here is the reason why. Jesus said, "For I have not spoken on My own [authority]; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. "And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak." John 12:49-50. This, I believe, was the reason why Jesus was crucified. He speaks what the Father has told Him to say. And many people don't like to hear what Jesus has to say. Why? Because Jesus knows that the Father's command is everlasting life. The words of the Father makes everlasting life possible for us, not Jesus' death. Jesus can die for us 1,000 times, but if we refuse to listen to His words, and not do what He tells us to do, we will all go to hell! For example, Yahweh said, by way of Jesus, "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast [it] from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.” Matthew 5:29-30. Do you know who told Him to say these words? It was God the Father, aka as Yahweh, who told Jesus to say those words. And God the Father meant what He said, just like this one. “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every intent of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them." Genesis 6:5-7. For 40 days and 40 nights God opened the sky and let the rain fall, flood the earth, and forced sinners to inhale mud water. They refused to listen to the Father's words, and they all perished! Do you see the similarities between the God in Matthew 5:29-30, and the God in Genesis 6:5-7? Similar, because they are the same God, aka God the Son, and God the Father. And Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23. Do you know why Jesus rejects these men/women of great faith? Because they did not do the will of His Father. The will of God the Father equals the will of God the Son. We must, therefore, listen only to God the Father, or God the Son, and no one else if salvation is our goal! If any of my readers wants to follow anyone else except God the Son, or God the Father, what more can I say? Do it! But I want my readers not to make the same mistakes that these men/women of great faith have done as described in Matthew 7:21-23.
We expect to be surprised when Jesus returns for the second time. But not the kind of surprise that these men/women of great faith got. They will go to a place where they will hear wailing and gnashing of teeth! God the Father said, by way of Jesus, "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3.
