WHY DO WE PRAY?
God the Father said, by way of God the Son, "But why do you call Me `Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?” Luke 6:46. In other words, why do we pray to Him every day when we don’t do what He tells us to do? Is it smart of us to pray to Him every morning, Lord, Lord, and then refuse to do what He tells us to do for the rest of the day? Is that smart of us? I want you to think about it. Why? Because God the Father is not going to hear our prayer when we refuse to do what He tells us to do. Does that make sense? God the Father is not our mama whom we can repeatedly ignore with little or no consequences. No, He is different! Look at what He did to Adam and Eve. No, God is different from our mama.
Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28. Jesus said He will give eternal life to His sheep who follow HIM. He did not say He will give eternal life to His sheep who refuses to follow Him. That means that we cannot expect eternal life from Him if we follow Paul or Matthew. We have to get eternal life from Jesus or God the Father. There are many other gods out there that we may like. Choose one that you like.
What is it that He wants us to do? Jesus answered, and said to Judas (not Judas Iscariot), "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.” John 14:21,23-24.
“He who says, ‘I know Him’, and does not keep His commandment is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” 1 John 2:4.
The Apostle Paul says, “Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God [is what matters].” 1 Corinthians 7:19. In summary, God the Father asked us, you and me, "But why do you call Me `Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?” Luke 6:46. Why? God the Father said, by way of God the Son, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23. Are we practicing lawlessness? Are we living in sin? If we are, God wants us to repent, now! I wonder if there is still a Christian church to be found in America that is doing all that God the Father wants them to do. I wonder...
