A DAY OF REST

Readers, I hope you have taken adequate rest when you read this post. Why? Because I want to present to you a new approach to an old idea that has been misunderstood by millions of Christians all over the world for a very long time. Exodus 20:8-11 says, "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day [is] the Sabbath of the LORD your God. [In it] you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who [is] within your gates. For [in] six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that [is] in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.” Many Christians think that God blessed the seventh day after the LORD had made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that [is] in them in six days, and rested on the seventh day, as if God needs a break after six days of work. Or, did God rest on the seventh day Sabbath because the Sabbath is a holy day? I believe that God rested on the seventh day because the Sabbath is a holy day, and not because God needs rest. We have to read Exodus 20:8-11 from the beginning to the end, and not in reverse. The seventh day Sabbath is a holy day, and that’s why He rested on the seventh day. “[In it] you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who [is] within your gates.” Do you know why God said we, our children, our servants, our cattle, or even strangers who live within your gates should not be allowed to work? Because the seventh day, the Sabbath, is a holy day. I used to live in Utrecht in the Netherlands when I was young. On Friday night the Jews turn their lights at home off. Their home is dark during the Sabbath. Not because it is a day of rest, but because the Sabbath is a holy day. We should be doing what God tells us to do, and not doing what we want to do. I am sure my readers still remember why Adam and Eve were kicked out from their homes, right? Because they did what they wanted to do and not do what God wanted them to do. Christians have to get rid of these kinds of bad habits. We have to follow His law if we want to live with Him. Look, can we live freely in the USA if we don’t follow the law? No, we cannot! A sister wrote to me that we are not under the law, but under grace. Were Adam and Eve under grace? Was Lucifer and millions of his angels under grace? No, they were not! The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 6:15: “What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” Brothers and sisters. We must be very careful what church we go to. Because many of these churches will tell you anything to rip you off, anything. They want your money. If they tell you that we are under grace, and not under the law, leave the church immediately and don’t leave your lunch pack there. If you brought a banana and an orange with you to church for lunch, don’t forget to take them with you too when you go home.

I have a feeling, a very strong feeling, that the Sabbath will be observed in heaven as a holy day, and not because He was tired of creating the world in six days and needed a rest on the seventh day, but because the seventh day is the Lord's day, a holy day. The seventh day Sabbath is a holy day, and that’s why He rested on the seventh day. And not only God rested, but all of us who live with Him. Because the Sabbath is a holy day. "Therefore when you see the `abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. "Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! "And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath." Matthew 24:15-20.
"But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Matthew 24:13.

God bless!
