THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN
Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23.
Anytime when I see this text I am reminded of my college professor who gives us one or two hints about his upcoming test questions that will be asked in his test.
What is it that we should pay very close attention to what Matthew 7:21-23 says? No, do not start to ask what is the will of Paul, Peter, Matthew, James, Mark, Luke, or the other disciples, or even the will of Jesus. DO NOT ASK! Instead, ask what is the will of Jesus’ Father in heaven. If there is no God the Father, there is no Jesus, there is no you, and there is no me. Do we do the will of God the Father? Do we do the will of YAHWEH? If we do not do the will of Yahweh we can kneel down and pray 1,000 times each day and night, and nobody will hear us except our wall. Do you remember the Lord’s Prayer? "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom comes. Your will be done On earth as [it is] in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. "But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:9-15. Do you know who the Father is that Jesus referred to in the Bible? I believe it is God the Father, and not Jesus. How do I know that? Because that is what Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23, DO THE WILL OF JESUS’ FATHER IN HEAVEN. Jesus is God the Son, and not God the Father.
I have a helper who helps us and does what we ask her to do. Today I told her that we feel that she is like our daughter. If she feels hungry, open the refrigerator and make herself a sandwich. If she wants a banana, grab one or two. God the Father will be happy if we do what He wants us to do. Jesus will also be happy if we do what He wants us to do. That’s how we make Jesus and God the Father happy. Do what Jesus wants us to do. Do what God the Father wants us to do. That, brothers and sisters is the ONLY way to go to heaven. The ONLY way to heaven, do the will of God the Father, and do the will of Jesus! Make them happy.
Jesus also said in Luke 6:46, "But why do you call Me `Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?” Jesus wants us to do also His will. So, what is the will of Jesus? Jesus said in John 14:15, "If you love Me, keep My commandments.” What are His commandments? His commandments are the commandments of God the Father. Jesus said in John 12:49-50, "For I have not spoken on My own [authority]; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. "And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."
In John 14:10 Jesus said, "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own [authority]; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Everything that Jesus says and teaches points to God the Father, everything.
What is the will of God the Father? “For I, the LORD your God, [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth [generations] of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.” Exodus 20:5,6.
Do we love God the Father? Do we keep His commandments? Do we understand what He says? If we do not, we are just praying to the wall. The only way that we can make God the Father and God the Son happy is when we do the will of Jesus’ Father in heaven. That is the only way to heaven! Read again Matthew 7:21-23.
