WHO ARE THEY?
Readers, yesterday I played the role of a psychologist and wrote an article entitled Simple Psychology. Today I want to play the role of a detective with my readers to determine who these people are that the Bible describes in Matthew 7:21-23.
Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness”
First we want to know who their teachers are, who are they following? Because from my recollection of reading the Bible no apostle or disciple of God has ever said to forget about the law other than the apostle Paul.
Now I can understand why the Catholic church leader changed the Sabbath to Sunday worship. They are not following Jesus. They are not following God the Father either, for sure. So who are they following? If they follow Jesus and do what Jesus wants them to do, they will be saved. If they do what God the Father wants them to do, they will also be saved and not sent to hell. But what do they do? They do the will of the apostle Paul.
The apostle Paul wrote, "knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.” Galatians 2:16. We know that these men/women of Matthew 7:21-23 have great faith. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'” Aren’t you amazed how clever Satan is? They can even cast demons in the name Jesus, and do many wonders in the name of Jesus. What else do we know about these people of great faith? They are lawbreakers. They are guilty of practicing lawlessness. Jesus sent these men/women of great faith to hell not because they have no faith, no, but because they are not justified by the work of the law. They were sent to hell because of what they did, breaking the law. Do you understand what I am saying? If you don’t understand I am sorry I have nothing more to offer you, no cake, and no ice cream.
Now, let me ask you this question. I have no doubt that some of you may know more about the Bible than I do, and about the authors who wrote them. Do you know of anyone in the Bible, any disciple or apostle of Jesus who dares to tell anyone to ignore the law other than Paul? I don’t know of anyone, alive or dead, other than the apostle Paul.
Jesus said, "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.” Matthew 10:37. Do you love your apostle Paul more than Jesus?
Readers, salvation is now in our hands. The choices that we make now will determine whether we will be saved or not when Jesus returns. God bless.
