A FOLLOWER OF JESUS
Why does one want to be a follower of Jesus? The obvious answer is to be rewarded when Jesus returns. Rewarded with heaven. But going to heaven is not easy. Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. “Matthew 7:21.
Doing the will of God the Father is not easy. It is never easy. Don’t you believe me? Look at Adam and Eve. God asked them not to eat a certain fruit. A serpent deceived them and they ate. They refused to do the work that they must do, and that is not to eat the fruit. The work is to obey God. As a result of disobedience to the work that they must do, God evicted them and took eternal life away from them.
Here comes Saul of Tarsus. He claims that Jesus has called him to be a follower of Jesus. A follower of Jesus? What does a follower of Jesus do? He must promote the interest of Jesus. He must teach the teachings of Jesus. He must share with others the teachings of Jesus’ Father about work. In short, he must promote Jesus and His Father. What did Paul do? He showed off his brand-new theory of salvation -
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.
Compare this with what Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. “Matthew 7:21.
Jesus wants us to work for our salvation, but Paul says no work. Just by looking at these contradictions I know that Paul is not a follower of Jesus. He is interested in promoting himself, not in promoting Jesus.
Jesus said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me." John 14:15,21,23,24. Readers, do you know why keeping His commandments is critical for our salvation?
I believe that when Jesus returns, we will be judged by our obedience to God’s Commandments. Readers, Jesus has not come yet.
Let us practice daily obedience to His commandments. The more often we practice obedience to His commandments, the better will we become.
A follower of Jesus is obedient to Jesus, not to Saul of Tarsus.
Saul doesn’t teach obedience to God’s law. Paul abolished God’s law. What is there to obey if there is no law to obey?
Obedience to the law is work, not faith.
Finally, again, Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Readers, do you understand what Jesus says? Only those who do the will of Jesus’ Father will go to heaven. The word do means WORK, not FAITH!
And millions of Christians believed and were misled by Paul's new unproven “law of salvation”: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9. Jesus says WORK, and Paul says FAITH. James says faith without work is dead. James 2:14-26 Work is to OBEY God, not a human being.
