THE FAITH OF ADAM AND EVE
I thank God for giving me ideas on what to write everyday. Today I am going to write about the faith of Adam and Eve. Why not? Faith is such an important subject that I owe much to all of my readers if I write nothing or only one or two sentences or paragraphs. Let me begin by quoting what Saul of Tarsus wrote in Ephesians 2:8-9. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast “ According to Paul we are saved by faith. I understand clearly what he said. But faith in whom? Faith in Jesus? Faith in God the Father? Faith in Saul of Tarsus? Or faith in the serpent? I am assuming Saul meant faith in Jesus.
Let us go back to the story of Adam and Eve so we can understand better what faith is all about. Genesis 3:1-6, “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden' ?" And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; "but of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God has said, `You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'" Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. "For God knows that on the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." So when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make [one] wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave it to her husband with her, and he ate.“
Let’s talk a little about what we know so far. God told Adam and Eve not to eat a certain fruit. The snake persuaded them to eat the fruit because it was pleasant to the eyes and can make them wise. Eve fell for the trap and she ate the fruit. She also gave it to her husband, and he also ate it. Both fell for the same trap of a snake (SATAN) and ignored and disobeyed God. Why? Because Adam and Eve have no faith in God. If they have faith in God, they would listen to God and ignore the snake.
“Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever" therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.“ Genesis 3:22-24.
Adam and Eve have no faith in God the Father. They ignored God’s order. Saul of Tarsus has no faith in Jesus Christ. He ignored the will of Jesus Father too. Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. “ Matthew 7:21. The will of Jesus and Jesus' Father are found in the LAW which Saul has abolished.
What else did Paul say about the Law that he had abolished? “Therefore the law [is] holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.” Romans 7:12. Who is Saul of Tarsus? An angel? Who gives him the authority to abolish God’s law that is holy, just, and good? A different snake?
Paul has no faith in Jesus and in Jesus’ Father. If he does he would obey them and keep the law. He also has no respect for Jesus and His Father. He is teaching you and me to be disrespectful to Jesus and God the Father. You follow him at your own peril!
